Medium-scale housing development

Development-house-construction

Eden District Council

Full, detailed planning approval was successfully obtained for 28 new dwellings in the village of Temple Sowerby in the Eden Valley. The site, situated to the rear of the Temple Sowerby Medical Practice, is located on the western edge of the village. The site is located within a designated conservation area.

The site was purchased by our client with extant approval for 25 dwellings. However, a revised scheme was submitted which altered the design and layout of the site to provide 28 dwellings, a mix of three-and four-bedroomed properties. The revised scheme also included the provision of 30 per cent affordable housing, 7 affordable homes for the local community and a larger number of smaller homes.

The application was presented to Eden district council's planning committee in July 2017, recommended for approval. The parish council objected to the application, raising concerns regarding the design, density and scale of the proposed development.

The application was approved at planning committee and planning permission was granted.
