Does the weather sometimes get you down? I’ve heard there’s no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothing (including trousers!) but we do seem to have had month after foreboding month of steely grey skies. The weather forecasts have been stubbornly predictable - either it’s raining now, or it’s going to rain soon. Add the short daylight hours to this gloomy mix, and it’s no wonder the temptation to hunker down and concentrate on nothing more than the minutest day-to-day tasks can be overpowering. Let’s just get indoors, shall we, in front of the fire? Now… where’s the bottle opener?
But ever since Christmas (well, December 21st to be exact) the gap between sunrise and sunset has been increasing and now in mid-February we have one and a half hours more daylight than we did on the shortest day. What’s more, this lengthening of daylight hours will gather speed in the coming weeks.
So, if you’ve been waiting to put your property plans into motion at, say, sometime in the New Year, take heed - that moment is already upon you! I’ve written before that a significant and structural aspect of the property market here in Keswick is the restricted number of properties which come to it. Therefore, you must make allowance for the time needed to seek out your ideal home or holiday home or investment. Then of course, you must add the further time needed for the legalities to complete, and before you know where you are, you might well find the evenings are drawing in once again!
So do not delay. January has been surprisingly busy in our office here in Station Street, probably as a consequence of the major political decision conclusively made in Westminster in December. Hopefully by the time this blog is published we’ll be experiencing some dazzlingly clear weather, and you can put the lengthening days to good use!
