The attached Pele Tower was built in the 15th century and has Ancient Monument Status, enjoying a wide variety of preserved original features. Of sandstone construction, there is a ground floor vault, (5.05m x 7.98m (16' 7" x 26' 2") (approx) with stone flagged flooring, mullioned stone windows and stone sconces. The main entrance to the tower is from the front garden, where there is a sandstone arched doorway and wooden door leading to a spiral stone staircase. This leads to the first floor level, where a sandstone arched doorway opens into the main atrium which has a large sandstone fireplace, feature recesses, mullioned stone windows, and is open to three storeys. The spiral staircase continues up another three flights leading to the ramparts of the tower where there is a paved walkway leading right round the upper level with iron balustrade, and enjoys far reaching views over open countryside with Criffel and the Galloway hills of Scotland visible in the distance.
