New Executive Director appointed at Penrith Farmers’ and Kidd’s PLC
Penrith Farmers and Kidd’s PLC (PFK) are pleased to announce the appointment of a new Director. Current Head of Planning, Rachel Lightfoot, will join the board as an Executive Director from June 2017.
Rachel’s promotion follows a successful year with PFK, which has seen the planning department go from strength to strength, with an expanding clientele and a growing team to support her.
Originally from Carlisle, Rachel completed her planning qualifications in Bristol at the University of West England. Prior to joining PFK, Rachel began her career working as a Development Control Officer initially at Eden District Council and latterly at Carlisle City Council. She then made the move into the private sector as a planner for Story Homes. During her time at Story Homes, Rachel built experience working with both immediate development sites as well as identifying land for long term opportunities.
After several years, Rachel went on to set up her own business ‘Positive Planning Solutions’ which successfully operated for five years before taking the opportunity to join PFK.
Rachel joined PFK to use her skills to expand the already successful Planning department. This year has seen the planning department grow its service provision to clients in housebuilding sectors and local authority support services.
Rachel had the following comment to make:
“This is an exciting time for PFK, as we progress into the modern consultancy sector, I hope to contribute to the continued expansion of the brand. By working closely with Stephen Lancaster and combining our skills we will place the business on a great footing.”
PFK Chairman Jeanette Brown commented ‘’This is an exciting time for PFK, with an invigorated board and a fresh outlook the timing is perfect for Rachel to join the team. We have every confidence in Rachel and look forward to working with her and driving the business forward in the future.’’
PFK Managing Director, Stephen Lancaster, commented ‘’Since joining PFK I have worked closely with Rachel and have been nothing but impressed with the positive impact she has had on the planning department and business at large. It seems a natural choice to extend the reach of her skills from planning to the overall PFK business, with her appointment as a director she is enabled to do this. PFK is in a transitional period and it is the perfect time for Rachel to help support the exciting changes ahead’’.

Stretching back to 1876 PFK have a long Cumbrian heritage with strong community relationships and extensive knowledge of the local property market.
